We use the geldings to gather cattle and horses, work calves, check fence and the cowgirls ride just for fun.  There are long horn and jersy cows, calves, llamas and goats, in addition to Missouri wildlife around the ranch.  We believe it is beneficial to expose the horses to as much as possible.  We trail ride at Honey Creek and other conservation areas, and on crop ground, pastures and roads close to home.  We use our geldings in ranch sorting events.  We believe the geldings are best when ridden consistently.  We have more coming 2 and 3 year old geldings and studs available in various stages of being started with ground work and under saddle.

We worm our horses regularly and for geldings going to sortings or riding in public use areas, we give flu vaccine.  We feed our geldings grain when they are ridden but believe they do best on pasture and hay when they are not working.  We do not keep any of our horses inside.

It is very important to make the best match possible between horse and buyer.  Each horse has its own personality and every person is different.

This is a 2005 blue roan gelding out of a blue roan Poco bred mare and  a Doc Bar stud.  Born and raised on our ranch.  He has had 6 months working at the feed lots in 2008.  This young horse ran a 28 second time to win in a class of more than 50 teams at his second ranch sorting competition on October 11, 2008.    We are very pleased with his disposition and color.  He turns, stops and flexes with quite a nice handle.  He is 14.1 hands and weighs about 950 pounds.  Nothing to fault him on.  Easy to catch, loads and stands for farrier.

This is Awesome Bart, 2005 model coal black gelding, one white coronet on back left foot, out of our biggest boldest mare.  He has a very loving personality and will come to the gate when called.  Stands quiet for mounting, soft on the bit, flexes, turns and is very cowy.  Has a great stop and will lope off easily.  No bad behavior to report on this great thick gelding.  He has just returned from several months working in the feed lots.  He stands 15 hands and weighs 1050 pounds.  He had times in the 30 seconds at his first ranch sorting competition.  He rode in a snaffle on a loose rein and was just perfect.

Grateful Red is a 1995 APHA sorrel gelding with a star, who stands 14.2 and weighs 1050 pounds.  Red has had extensive professional training and is very quick.  His dam, O Pretty Smart, is registered APHA, out of  two AQHA parents.   Red is athletic and cowy with beautiful lines.  He is out of SR Instant Choice,  a top sire of cutting horses and the leading sire at the 1998 National Cutting Horse Association Futurity sale and screening.  In 1999 he sired the top 3 highest scoring 2-year-olds in the NCHA Futurity Sale and screening.  Sr Instant Choice is a million dollar sire.  His 2008 stud fee is $5000 as advertised in the NCHA stallion showcase.  Red is  well put together and would do well at any timed event.  He will cut a cow.  He has been roped off of, too.  He placed first in the open class of 90 teams with our 14 year old cowgirl at ranch sorting in June 2008.

Good for the farrier, loads, ties and has excellent ground manners.  He is fast and has no buck.  Good on trails and gates.  You can work him and then walk him off on a loose rein.  Fantastic horse with an amazing pedigree.

Lucky is an AQHA registered, well bred, 2002 model, that has been trail riding and ranch sorting for a year.  He is 15 hands and weighs 1100 pounds.  He spent several months at the feedlot and does well working cows.  He is not a finished horse but he is quiet and sound with quite a few miles on him.  He is very much a people horse and will come up when you call his name and follow you around in the pasture.  Lucky will just be getting better everyday.  Moves off the leg and gives to the bit.  Never bucked.  Lopes off in the pasture, in the ring or down the road.  Started right, he is gentle and not spooky.  We will keep riding and enjoying this great gelding until he is sold.
